About WiTEC

Women in Tourism - Eastern Cape was established in 2018 and was registered as Non- Profit Organization in 2022. It is a private sector led women’s organisation that propels and supports the development and empowerment of women in the tourism sector. It also seeks to integrate women from the different subsectors within tourism ensuring convergence on a set of common goals and interests within the industry. It has members across the Eastern Cape with branches in Mthatha, Mount Ayliff, Gqeberha, Aliwal North and East London.

Our Objectives

To ensure that women in the sector are respected, recognised, represented and rewarded

To mobilise and create platforms for women to network and expand their business and professional horizons

To assist in driving transformation within the tourism sector of South Africa

To facilitate access to information, business resources and opportunities within the tourism sector

To provide leadership for young women who have entered and who are endeavouring to enter the tourism and hospitality sectors

To profile, recognise, affirm and create platforms to celebrate women achievers in the sector

To lobby government and other stakeholders on barriers for the advancement of women in the tourism and hospitality sector

To identify mechanisms to address the various barriers women face in the tourism sector
